The Young Adult Program (YAP) has recently been formed at The Meeting Place to assist Young Adults between the ages of 18 and 30 in their recovery. The goal behind the program is to provide a place for young adults who may be having a hard time dealing with isolation, stigma, and confusion of their diagnosed mental illness.
Although the resources available to the young adults are parallel to that of the clubhouse and international standards that follow, there is a stronger focus on school and socialization. There seems to be a more prevalent desire for help with tutoring, school registration and filling out financial aid packets for those in this age bracket.
All members are able to participate in the meetings as well as the activities for this group but it is specifically designed for the young adult. As with all other aspects of the clubhouse, to participate, you must be a member.
