WHAT IS A CLUBHOUSE?
The Meeting Place is where people with a mental illness can come to rebuild their lives, establish and meet goals, build confidence and stamina, find work, make friends, and have fun.
The Work-ordered Day
Despite the recreational connotations of the word "clubhouse", all "standards-based" clubhouses operate on the work-ordered day.
At The Meeting Place, the work-ordered day begins at 8:00 AM and end at 4:00 PM. During this time, we do the work of the clubhouse.
This work ranges from cooking, janitorial, counting money and preparing bank deposits, helping other members get jobs or return to school, answering the phone, data entry and gardening . This is just a partial list of all the work we need accomplish.
All the clubhouse work provides an opportunity for members to develop or renew skills, build confidence, increase stamina, problem-solve, and have the ability to interact and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals. The work of the clubhouse is all necessary and real!
Because there is so much work to be done. Recreational activities take place during the lunch hour, after 4:00 PM or on the weekend.
You can be involved in whatever you'd like in clubhouse. How you choose to be in work ordered day is up to you. However, we believe, the more you put in - the more you'll get out of the program.
